Joseph Chean

It is with great sorrow that we commemorate the life of Brother Joseph Chean, who departed from this world to be with the Lord. A devoted husband to Kim and a loving father to Olivia and Ashley, Joseph's presence as a family man was deeply cherished. His spiritual leadership was evident in his service as Youth Pastor and Assistant Chaplain for St. Andrew’s Secondary School, where he also founded Eternal Splashes, a creative arts ministry focused on discipling youth through street evangelism.

Joseph's commitment to the Kingdom of God led him to join YWAM Singapore in 1997, where he dedicated his heart and efforts until he became its National Director in 2012. His visionary leadership was instrumental in steering YWAM Singapore towards fulfilling Singapore’s divine calling as the Gateway to Asia.

On 8th February 2023, Joseph passed the baton of leadership to a vibrant and youthful team, yet remained a pillar within the YWAM family, continuing his work as the chairman of FOMOS, a fellowship comprising 18 missional organizations.

Even after stepping down from his role at YWAM, he embraced a new challenge as the Strategic Coordinator for Antioch 21, LoveSingapore's global missions arm. His life's work became focused on fostering unity and collaboration among local churches, mission agencies, and business entities to realize the Antioch call—Many Streams, One Direction; A Church for Every People, the Gospel for Every Person.

Joseph entered the Decade of Missions (2023-2033) with faith and optimism, holding fast to the promise: "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14). His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the mission he so passionately championed.
